The fun, effervescent full length ballet Don Quixote is returning to Sydney this April with The Australian Ballet.. yeh! It's great story by the famous Miguel de Cervantes and fabulous music by Ludwig Minkus is so entertaining if you have a chance please go!
My first memory of Don Quixote was seeing Mikhail Baryshnikov and Cynthia Harvey perform with The American Ballet Theatre. I absolutely loved it. Misha was technically amazing but he also got right into the role of Basilio. He was vivacious and full of humour.. perfect for the role. Cynthia was beautiful and very funny too. I was truly inspired!
Later we also bought the DVD with the Legend Rudolf Nureyev and our Australian Ballerina Lucette Aldous. I thoroughly enjoyed this version also.

I am so thrilled David Hallberg is now Director of The Australian Ballet. He's so inspiring and the Company are looking wonderful. I would have absolutely loved to have seen him live as Basilio! He was fantastic in Kunstkamer last year. I thought the programme was wonderful and David and the Company looked fabulous.
I feel so privileged and lucky to have not only performed in Don Quixote with Bayerisches Staatsballett but to have also been able to tour the world. Our first tour was to Spain. How fitting as the story is set in La Mancha, Spain. We also toured to New York which was so exciting. As well, we toured Italy which I loved and was my first experience on a raked stage!
Now after the extremely horrid time of Covid .. one appreciates being free to travel and see and experience new things
so much more!
